Denton ISD to host education symposium tonight

The Denton school district will host a symposium tonight gathering school district officials from Denton and Wise counties.
Superintendent Jamie Wilson said the Greater North Texas Community Engagement Symposium, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex, brings together school officials – superintendents and school board members — from the two counties to discuss legislative priorities and share resources.
Approximately 70 to 80 people are expected to attend.
Sessions include focusing on dispelling myths about successes in Texas public schools, making education a priority and the 83rd legislative session set to begin in January.
“Our plan is to have a common voice about what our schools are doing in Denton County and Wise County … and then communicate those things that are relevant to us to our local elected officials,” Wilson said.
The Advanced Technology Complex is located at 1504 Long Road in Denton.
