Argyle mayor decides to seek re-election

Mayor Matt Smith changed his mind and has decided to seek re-election just a few days after stating he was tired of all the bickering town hall.

The mayor submitted all the forms necessary to seek re-election just before the deadline to receive all candidate applications ended at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Earlier last week, Smith told the Denton Record-Chronicle he would not seek re-election, citing family issues as his main reason.

Now, Smith will go up against council members Joey Hasty and Peggy Krueger for the mayor’s seat this May.

That mayor was recently accused of sexual harassment and gender discrimination by two woman. One is a former town of Argyle employee and the other still works for the town.

The council met  of Feb. 26 to discuss the issue and allegations and agreed to meet with the two women who filed the complaints and to resolve the issue. Find the full story here - Two women file complaints against Argyle
