Following our series on take-home vehicles, a number of readers have questioned whether the public could learn more about the value of that benefit. Specifically, they have recommended we seek the information reported on the W2 form of public employees who have take-home vehicles. It's important to note, however, that the IRS has already exempted police and fire vehicles. Therefore, no benefits would have been reported for more than 70 percent of the area public vehicles being driven home. However, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be interesting to find out what has been reported for the other 30 percent. E-mail entry: |
